China Buddhists celebrate the Buddha’s birthday (Vesak) on the 8th of the 4th month in the lunar calendar. In 2013 this will be on May 17.

The Buddha’s Birthday Celebration and Exhibition will be held at Hsi Lai Temple, Hacienda Heights in the Los Angeles Area, California on May 4-5 and May 11-12 in Harmony Hall.

The Buddha’s Birthday Celebration and Exhibition will be held at Whittier Narrows Park in the Los Angeles Area, California on May 19, 2013.

Through these doors we foster and promote a better understanding of Buddhist history through a multi-media exhibit focused on Buddha’s Birthday celebrations in medieval China. As Buddhism travelled from India to China by way of the Silk Road, emperors, and devotees established more then 1000 temples and monasteries in Luoyang, all of which joined in celebration for an annual birthday parade.
